Managing Activities

Activities are used to define the nature of work for a given shift within a bid schedule. Your setup can be as simple or as detailed as your organizational needs require.

Purpose of Activities

  • Simple Approach: For many shift bids, a single, generic activity such as “Work” is sufficient. This indicates that the employee is scheduled for a working shift during the specified times. In these cases, the Group in the bid defines what they will be doing.
  • Detailed Approach: Alternatively, you can create a more complex list of specific activities. This allows you to define in greater detail what an employee's role or task will be if they successfully bid for and are assigned that particular shift (e.g., "Location 1 Team Lead," "Location 2 Team Lead"). This can be useful if different roles are part of the same bid and carry different responsibilities or qualifications.

Managing Activities

  1. Navigate to Activities:

To view, create, or manage activities, go to Menu > Activities.

  2. Creating a New Activity:

    • Click on the + Add Activity button.
    • Activity Name: Enter a clear and descriptive name for the activity (e.g., "Location 1 Team Lead," "Maintenance," "Location 2 Worker").
    • Parent Activity (Optional): You can select an existing activity to be the "parent" of the new one. This allows you to create a hierarchy or nest activities as sub-activities for better organization if you have many detailed tasks. If it's a top-level activity, leave this unselected.
    • Click Save.

When setting up shifts in a bid schedule (as detailed in "Creating a Shift Bid Schedule"), you will then select from these defined activities to assign to each shift pattern.
