Welcome to ShiftBID! This guide will help you get logged in, set up your account, and understand the two main shift bidding modes.
1. First-Time Login & Password Setup
Step 1: Activate Your Account. Look for a welcome email from ShiftBID with the subject line, "Welcome to ShiftBID." Inside, click the "Set Password" button. You will be directed to an account activation page and will receive a second email with a 6-digit verification code. Enter this code to proceed.
Step 2: Create Your Password. After entering the code, you will be prompted to create a new password. Enter your password and click Set Password. You will then be redirected to the login page.
Step 3: Log In. Use your username (usually your work email address) and the new password you just created to log in for the first time.
2. Setting Up Your Account & Notifications
Once logged in, go to Menu > My Settings to configure your profile and notifications.
Add Your Phone for Text Notifications
- In the Cell phone section, click the "add" button.
- Enter your cell phone number and click Send Code.
- A verification code will be sent to your phone via text message. Enter this code on the page.
- Once verified, a green check mark will appear, confirming you can receive text messages.
Configure Notification Preferences
Under the Individual Notifications section, you can choose how you receive alerts.
- New Bidding Started: Notifies you when a new schedule is posted.
- Bid Opened for Me: (For Sprint Bidding) Notifies you when it is your turn to bid.
- Rank Bidding Close Warning: (For Ranked Bidding) Sends a reminder 24 hours before the bid closes.
- Check the Email and/or Text box for each type of notification you want to receive.
Click Save Notification Changes when finished.
3. Understanding Bidding Modes
There are two main bidding modes you may encounter. It's important to know the difference as they operate very differently.
Ranked Bidding
In this mode, all employees can rank their preferred shifts at the same time. The bid remains open for a set period, after which the system automatically assigns shifts based on seniority and your ranked preferences.
Sprint Bidding
In this mode, employees bid one at a time in order of seniority. The next employee's bidding window begins as soon as the previous person makes their selection. This is a rapid, turn-based system where you have a limited amount of time to choose one shift.
What if I miss my bid window? If you miss your turn, you can still log back in and bid on a shift. However, your choices will be limited to what's currently available, as other employees may have already selected the most desirable shifts.
4. Changing Your Password
To change your password after initial setup:
- Go to Menu > My Settings.
- Click Change Password.
- Enter your current password, type and confirm your new password, then click Change Password.
