Weekend Protection

The Weekend Protection feature in Hero Schedule guarantees employees who worked a specific position Monday through Friday the right to work that same position on Saturday and Sunday. This feature overrides seniority for that specific position during weekend bidding, even if a more senior employee bids for the same position.

Administrator Setup

1. Create or Select Weekend Schedule:
   • Ensure you have a schedule set up for the weekend positions that are identical to the weekday positions.
2. Access Manage Bidding:
   • From your weekend schedule, click on the dropdown menu next to "Save" and select "Manage Bidding".
3. Select Employees:
   • Add the same employees who worked the weekday positions to this weekend bid.
4. Configure Protected Bid:
   • In the dropdown menu for Protected Bid, select the previous week's bid that corresponds to the weekday assignments. This links the current weekend bid to the previous weekday work.

Employee Experience

When an employee logs in to bid for the weekend schedule:

• They will see that one of the positions is "locked in" as a protected position, indicating their guaranteed spot for the weekend. They will see a yellow circle next to the shift. 
• The employee can then select this protected position as their first option to secure their weekend spot. After making other desired changes, they click "save" to lock in that weekend protection position.
• Option to Decline Protection: An employee is not obligated to use their protected position for the weekend. They can choose to bid on and work a different spot if they prefer, by selecting a different position as their first pick.

Once the bid is complete, employees will have received the positions they bid on, with weekend protection ensuring priority for those eligible slots.
